How the Scam Works
Scammers send SMS messages or emails containing fraudulent links that lead to fake websites designed to look like RallyCarsForSale. Once you enter your username and password, criminals can gain access to your account and use it to place fraudulent advertisements or scam other users.
Buying Safely
Never send money by bank transfer unless you are 100% certain that both the seller and the vehicle are genuine.
If an offer looks too good to be true, it probably is.
For valuable transactions, we strongly recommend using a trusted escrow service such as Escrow.com. An escrow service protects both buyers and sellers by ensuring that funds are only released once both parties have met the agreed conditions.
Recognising Scammers
Although we never publish your email address on our website, scammers may still contact users through other channels.
Be extra cautious if someone:
- Shows little or no knowledge about the vehicle.
- Immediately agrees to pay the full asking price without asking relevant questions.
- Pressures you to complete the transaction quickly.
- Asks you to continue the conversation outside RallyCarsForSale.
- Uses poor English or sends vague, generic messages.
A well-known scam is the overpayment cheque scam, where a buyer sends a cheque for more than the agreed amount and asks you to refund the difference. The cheque later turns out to be fraudulent.
