A rare, highly developed Datsun 1600 SSS, built for competitive rallying and backed by an extensive package of spares. Originally built in Sweden as an 1800SS, the car was acquired at auction in 2020 and has been associated with the Jarvis Collection.

The car was stripped and rebuilt from the ground up in collaboration with Les Collins in Australia, with most of the parts sourced from Australia. It combines a carefully prepared engine, rare competition transmission and differential, and MCA suspension.

Specification
• Engine: Les Collins-built 1600cc L16, running Weber carburettors. Meticulously prepared and producing approximately 165 bhp at 8,000 rpm.
• Gearbox: Extremely rare Nissan Option 2 close-ratio gearbox, with a 1:1 fifth gear.
• Differential: Rare R180 5.1:1 differential, fitted with a new S13 KAAZ Dan 2010 limited-slip differential.
• Suspension: MCA suspension by Murray Coote, rebuilt before the 2025 RAC.
• Body and underside: The car benefits from a full exterior respray in a colour-matched finish, with Raptor coating applied to the underside.
• Fire suppression: Lifeline Zero 275 extinguisher system
• Fuel cell: ATL fuel cell

The car is highly competitive in its class. Its independent rear suspension helps deliver strong traction, and it has proved kind to tyres over long events. On the RAC, it completed the event without a puncture and used 12 tyres in total.

Competition record
The car has been campaigned successfully in the C2 class. Its only mechanical failure occurred at its first event, when a clutch problem caused by an issue on our part brought it to a halt. Since then, it has proved a competitive and dependable car.

A substantial endurance-event spares package is available with the car, including 14 wheels, whole set of dampers, rear subframe and trailing arms, front subframe, a spare gearbox with close-ratio gearset, and another brand-new 5.1:1 differential with a new KAAZ limited-slip differential, Many part worn tyres plus much more.
