1998 Subaru Impreza 2 Door Wide Body Shell – S5 Tribute.
This was the start of a project to build a 97/98 S5 Tribute car to compete in Euro and UK rallying history events and demos, along with other chosen tarmac events to scratch the competing itch. The donor for majority of the mechanicals was to be my 2004 Prodrive N10 (Soon to be for sale after paint)
The shell is a RHD 1998 Type R, fresh import so its both rust and damage free.
Built with an era correct Custom Cages cage. Fully fire walled.
The widebody kit is a WRC kit not a 22B one from ABW motorsports, it’s GRP, it’s quality is outstanding and really well fitted. All the door gaps and panel gaps are like factory. Chosen for availability and price of replacement panels if/when required.
It’s fully steel tubbed on the rear and the front end has been modified with larger tubs to take the bigger wheels and suspension travel.
Both bumpers are quick release, and the bonnet is pinned (Not shown in the pic’s)
Rear windows are quick release (Copied from a friends genuine WRC 2 Door)
Sill stand tubes fitted.
The rear screen and front screen haven’t been fitted back in but will be supplied.
The shell is painted in the genuine Prodrive WRC colour, not a road car colour. This was possible by going through Autosportif who made some calls to enable me to source the paint from the original supplier to Prodrive, it’s the original colour used on the factory built cars, there’s so much pearl in it, it’s absolutely beautiful, photo’s just don’t do it any justice!!
NB. Window/door seals weren’t fitted when I took the photos.
It’s fitted with some carbon goodies supplied by RallyTech, Rear carbon element wing, carbon door cards and mirrors.
I’ve also got a rare RHD genuine Navigator Pod included and the correct dash for the build, and also a later dash (Both included)
There’s also a set of 4 genuine Speedline 18″ Mag wheels that are freshly refurbed and available separately, these have been machined to suit 56.1mm centre bore hubs, but van be run with WRC hubs with a small spigot ring.
The reason for not completing the build? Simple, I found a very well priced (Too good to say no to) Lancia Integrale Evo1 and that has always been my dream build car but donors at sensible money never turn up!! I’ve had Integrale’s for 20yrs and now it’s time to build a GrpA tribute car to go out and enjoy and get into the forest with it….. hopefully I won’t be using my road going one for spares!!
I’m gutted I can’t hold on to the shell, it’s stunning and I’d love to finish it and use it as intended but the pull of the forest in a Delta is too strong. I could wait a few years to build the Delta and get out in the 2Door but I just can’t wait!
If anyone requires the shell shipping outside the UK, I am sure that can be arranged as long as cleared funds are in place.
More photo’s available on request…..
