HANNU MIKKOLA`S 1986 S1 E2
This is a supremely accurate recreation of the ‘Group B’ rally Audi Quattro SWB which came third in 1986 Monte Carlo Rally in the capable hands of the late Hannu Mikkola and Arne Hertz. The level of construction, quality of engineering and attention to detail bear comparison to the ‘works’ cars and very rarely does such an exacting copy of the era-defining Factory Quattro cars come to market.
The shell was constructed in exactly the same way that the original factory cars were by mating the front half of an Audi 80 bodyshell with the rear end of the road-going Quattro. After many hours of preparation, the shell was fitted with a Historic Cage and is a copy of the original ‘works’ cage but fabricated to modern safety standards (the cage wears ‘Matter’ decals as the works cages were made by them). The build was started in the summer of 2010 overseen by the renowned historic Audi rally-car builder, Jamie, but, such was the need to source original factory parts from all over the world to create this sensational Historic Group b machine.
Here we have the most sensational Audi S1 E2 Sport Quattro built using original ex factory parts making this S1 the closest you can get to a factory car in the world.
Built to this stage has taken over 12 years with sourcing original parts from UK to the whole of Scandinavia across more or less all countries in Europe and from South Africa Motorsport and as far as America.
There was only 20 original factory cars made with 2 of which have been dismantled.
This S1 for sale is an exact rebuild with factory parts of one of those that was dismantled which is car number 014 Hannu Mikkola`s. MonteCarlo S1.
This S1 has been built to the original 250 page Audi Sport Build manual.
This is a piece of Motorsport history built with all these special parts and is on another level with all the original parts having history and a story to tell with each part from the cars they were originally from.

This car has had help and involvments with ex factory mechanics,ex Rallycross champions that owned ex works cars.
Fitted with an original S1 aluminium block and a works cylinder head with S1 dry sump,magnesium engine cover, inconel header, original polygon kkk , wastegates, umluft system, super rare steering servo that drives the S1 magnesium quick rack and the rear pump in the which operates the rear alternator. There are so many special original parts fitted to this car.ex Rallycross S1 owners have confirmed that this S1 has more original parts on than some original S1`s.
With there being only 18 original S1`s left in exsistance there might not be another original S1 on the market for at least 20 years. This S1 E2 is the closest car in the world to an orignal with all these ex factory parts and the chassis build identical to a works car with even some steels off of one of the orignal cars welded to it.
