The car was originally built in France by SBM for a South African Rallye Raid Team.
The V 8 – 5 litre engine is un-stroked and develops already about 500 hp with a Magneti Marelli engine control system and a 36 mm limiter installed. The engine management software was developed by Oreca – Magny Cours of France. The engine itself was taken off the shelf from Ford Motor Company, presenting a very economical engine concept with low cost spares available but with a strong racing character due to the Italian/French engine management system. (The engine and very few body parts are the only similarity with a Ford car, except the nameplate.)
The gearbox is a 6-speed SADEV sequential racing box, easily able of taking the extreme torque produced by the engine. This gearbox is probably the best racing box available!
The suspension is a four-link on the rear axle and independent on the front axle. Wheel travel is according to Dakar rules for 4WD cars. The shocks are Donerre of France, two for each wheel. All shocks are reconditioned by Donerre recently (Invoice available). On both axles we have 4 coil-overs with two springs on a slider (progressive set-up) each. This set-up is ideal for medium speed tracks. Alternatively, we can change the set up to one springs each with a less progressive spring rate for high speed tracks. The suspension set-up allows for enormous traction and perfect handling.
When reconditioning the car in 2017 in Germany, we changed all wearing parts such as breaks, clutch, unibals, pumps, filters, alternator e.g.. Spares for most wearing parts and a spare drive train come with the car.
