Description
A stunning Porsche 911 with an amazingly successful competition history. This Road Legal Porsche 911 RSR IROC replica started life in Germany as a 2.7-litre Carrera MFI, before being converted to 3.0-litre Carrera specification in the late 1970s, after which it was driven in German tarmac stage rallies, winning various class awards. It was subsequently upgraded to FIA-compatible RSR IROC specification in 1996, by the reputed Swiss Porsche tuner HS Racing. Power now comes from a 3.4-litre twin-spark MFI flat-six, producing around 300bhp, originally built by Heini Schneebit of HS Racing using high butterfly injection and twin coils, to produce around 300bhp. coupled to a Guard Transmissions five-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential. In 2003, it was sold to Nick Faure, who had driven RSRs in period for Porsche GB. Faure imported the car to the UK, and went on to win the Tour de España in 2006, as well as a 911-only race at Circuit des Remparts in Angoulême. The car was then sold to Sean Lockyear who commissioned Mike Bainbridge Engineering to rebuild the engine and gearbox. Further investment for a rebuild and pre-season preparation brought Lockyear spectacular results winning Tour
Britannia in both the 2008 and 2010.
Since changing hands several times over the last decade. It has been kept in safe keeping as part of several different private Porsche collections with no competition usage. There has consistently been lots of money spent on maintenance and upkeep. Currently setup for Track, Rally or Road use, it is understood to be eligible for several prestigious international events. The Digital odometer indicates approximately 6,900 miles. The bodywork of this RSR IROC replica comprises a fibreglass bonnet, extended wheel arches and a ‘Lexan’ glass replacement kit. It is finished in Speed Yellow with black Carrera scripts and a black rear spoiler. There is also a white windscreen strip, four bonnet-mounted spot lamps, and a list of its Historic wins proudly adorning the front wings. The car rides on 15-inch Fuchs-style wheels, finished in black and shod with Michelin racing tyres in fitments 270/45/15 at the front and 335/55/15
at the rear. Inside all FIA Drivers Safety equipment is new and in date. A pair of new OMP competition seats, new Sparco racing harnesses, a new Lifeline FireFighter safety system and new Handheld Extinguishers and Firestick. A 3-spoke Sparco Quick-Release steering wheel, a Stack tachometer, a Longacre oil pressure warning light, a yellow-painted welded roll cage with regulation Door Bars. The car sits on Bilstein suspension all-round, while stopping power comes from 930 Turbo-specification front brakes. An ATL Alloy Competition fuel tank under the Bonnet. Accompanying the vehicle is a large History Folder with the car’s Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Various German title documents, its import documentation, its previous FIA Historic Technical Passport (issued in 2006), and a collection of maintenance invoices and UK MOT test certificates.
