For sale: Simca Rallye Danone, Ex-Fermín Vélez, completely restored and in perfect collector’s condition.
Its sporting history begins in 1981, finishing as Runner-up in the Spanish Hillclimb Championship with driver Joaquín Goiburu. In 1982, already under Danone sponsorship, the car was crowned Spanish Touring Car Hillclimb Champion with Fermín Vélez behind the wheel. He was one of the most outstanding drivers on the national scene, with a brilliant later career especially in the United States, paving the way for other Spanish drivers in major endurance and single-seater competitions. In 1981, the Goiburu brothers rented the car for one million pesetas per event, a figure that reflects the value and competitive level of the vehicle.
After its time in national championships, in the early 1980s the car was purchased in Ibiza by Matías Pujadas, who competed with it in regional events in the Balearic Islands. Later on, the car was left parked for many years until it was acquired by a local enthusiast who carried out a complete restoration, respecting its original configuration and history.
Currently, this unit is in show-condition with a period-correct preparation carried out by Xaby Competition, exceeding 150 horsepower. In addition, it has been replicated and commercialised by several brands specialising in slot car models, which have released detailed versions of this iconic vehicle. In 2025, the car took part in the Subida al Puig Major, where it was able to appear before the fans on its return to competition. It also features a newly rebuilt engine.
A true piece of Spanish motorsport history, now for sale and looking for a new owner. The car is located in Palma de Mallorca.
